Note:
~ Itinerary is set in an environment of fresh air & greenary, hence members can expect to take a break from the hustle-bustle of city life.

~ Open only to 18yrs and above- And do check the expiry date of your passport.
~ This is an adventure (extreme/explore/exploit) photography trip
~ Be mentally prepared for lots of trekking
~ Physically fit to carry out personal chores & handling of photographic equipments
~ Food provide are very basic meals.
~ And do check the expiry date of your passport. Preparations
~ Wear light, breathable clothing.
~ Wear appropriate footwear that will support and protect your feet.
~ Wear a hat if much of the walk will be in the open.
~ Bring enough drinking water to last your walk. 1 litre per person per 3 hours is a good estimate.
~ Bring a small easy-to-digest snack to energise yourself.
~ Prepare raingear and plastic bags for electronic and other delicate items.
~ have a good night’s rest, drink plenty of water and have your regular meal.

From here we can capture the view of Mount Bromo, Batok & Semeru.
06:00 am > Free activity at Penanjakan 01.
06:30 am > Move on to Pasir Berbisik or Savana ( Depends on time ).
09:30 am > Back to Hotel Cemara Indah for Breakfast, rest until lunch.
12:00 pm > Lunch around Bromo area.

Full Itinerary
23rd May (THU) – Day 1 (Dinner)
Depart from Singapore 7am. Breakfast at JB, stop at NS highway for lunch, and arrive Ipoh by 3pm. Visit Kellie’s castle, an uncompleted project started >100yrs ago. In 1999, it was used as setting in the movie Anna and the King. Followed by a visit to the last tin dredge in Malaysia, TT5, which had surrendered its service in 1982. Dinner at Tanjung Tualang for its famous fresh water prawn. Over night at Paragoon Hotel or similar.
24th May (FRI) – Day 2 (Dinner)
Morning sunrise at Sri Botani garden. After breakfast, visit Tibetan Monastery at Tambun and photorgraphy the thangka rolling, ritual ceremony. After lunch, model shoot at Ipoh old town, Majestic Railway train station, street art painting, Perak Cave. Visit Lubuk Timah waterfall and enjoy natural hot spring. Night sunset shot at Kinta River. Hawker food for dinner.
Over night at Paragoon Hotel or similar.
25th May (SAT) – Day 3 (Dinner)
Early breakfast, drive to Sepetang to visit Malaysia only charcoal factory. Continue to roam around the fishing village to explore their activities and lifestyle. Malay style prawn mee for lunch. Continue to visit Taiping, a town rich with British heritage where British once used Taiping as state administrative Center until after the War. Photography at Lake Garden, and the WWII memorial park. Back to Ipoh for a rest. Relax at Hot spring pool at Tambun Lost World. Hawker food for dinner. Over night at Seemsoon Hotel or similar.
26th May (SUN) – Day 4 (Dinner)
Hike up to Kledang Morning sunrise, and head to Menglembu market for breakfast. Visit chinese clog home industries. Back to Ipoh, visit chinese traditional lion head making. Explore the prehistoric cave painting from the Neolithic era. Check out, lunch and drive up to Cameron highland. Visit farms and shopping, relax in cool weather. After steamboat dinner, visit the night market. Over night at Hotel Planters or similar.
27th May (MON) – Day 5
Sunrise shoot at tea garden. After breakfast, visit Boh Tea factory. Check out, on the way heading back to Singapore, stop for Iskander waterfall

SJS Returns to Marang Trail for a Night MacroWalk this time.
Always missed by the public except for those who works around the area.
A pretty much hidden path that leads up to the peak of Mt. Faber from VivoCity.
This trail is home to many night insects and the occasional horned beatles which is
supposedly “breeding season”. This is also another known place for hunting down Tiger beatles and other night insects.

Joe Riis is a wildlife photojournalist from South Dakota. A recipient of the Knight-Risser award, Joe’s work has been shaped by science and conservation, believing that photographs can connect our culture to critical issues threatening natural habitats and wildlife today. Since his first feature photographing the rarest bear in the world in Mongolia at the age of 26, he has won an Emmy in 2011 for his pronghorn cinematography on the National Geographic “Great Migrations” series.
Find out how he approaches photography as he shares his perspective from a trained biologist and core conservationist.

SJS Visits Gardens By The Bay

SJS Visits Gardens by the Bay! A lot had been said about GBTB, thousands had been there and flooded Facebook, Flickr, Instagram, Twitter & even Youtube with close to a million photos and videos. Since the fever had died a little, it’s time SJS made a trip there. We will be exploring the public area and we will decide on that day if we will be paying to go inside the Cloud Forest & Flower Dome. Those who loves to shoot Flowers are in for a treat, likewise, the landscape person can get lots of interesting scenes to shoot.
After the shoot, most likely we will be having dinner together at “Satay by the Bay”

SJS Sentosa 2-in-1 Shoot
Event Info:
SJS brings back our “2-in-1” shoot again – this round to Sentosa.
Part One
We will be visiting the Butterfly Park to wake those sleepy Butterflies up and
to irritate these SLBs from their afternoon naps! Shooting butterflies had never been so easy than anywhere else in Singapore. These are what I called the Mutated Butter-that-Flies. These guys are happy by not flying a lot.
Part Two
After a short break, we are heading to Underwater World (Not the New Overpriced and Over-hyped SEA Aquarium or Oceanarium at RWS). This good old underwater aquarium still standing good and remained popular till today. It’s been ages since SJS last visited this place so we are making a return visit this round.
Remember to bring along a CPL/ Polarizer Filter as you will be shooting through glass and you are also reminded not to use flash while inside the “roundabout”, don’t shoot like those stoooopid tourists with flash whom will be likely to be reincarnated into sea creatures and to take the place of those that they FLASHED. Lolxxx.
Come join us for a fun Sunday afternoon disturbing butterflies and some big fishes.
We will try to make it back to Vivo City for Dinner, by Dinner time. *Subject to plan change depending on weather & how many got eaten by sharks.

SJS LIVE BAND (Limited Series Prime Lens Night -Low Light Practice)
Event Info:
SJS’s Signature Event is back! Limited Series – Prime Lens Night – Minus the Mono. This time, we will be practising low light shooting without tripod and flash and we are shooting a live band in an enclosed studio with low lightings. The widest aperture lens + the steadiest hands will survive this shoot on top on higher (usable) ISOs. Minimum Recommended aperture for this shoot is F2.8 or Wider.

SJS Revisits Bird Park (Colors)
Event Info:
SJS is finally returning to Bird Park after a year ++. Good practice to shoot with your telephoto lenses and to be with the birds on a Sunday. This shoot comes with a theme “Colors”, means all photos should be of bright colors and preferably with a few tones of colors. All photos must include the heads of the birds and don’t just shoot the wings.

It is a small town located in the state of Selangor, Malaysia; about 102 km of the north of Kuala Lumpur. Sekinchan is a little town in the middle of the main rice-bowl area of Selangor It is one of the major rice producing areas of Malaysia. Please see below for the itinerary.

SJS Heritage Discovery is back! For this installment, we are taking our cameras to the rustic-yet-culture-shocked Balestier estate. The mix of old shop houses & new modern buildings seems to have go down well with each other – but who knows how long will it remain status quo? So before anything happened, let’s take a night walk through Balestier – the “little sister” of Geylang.

SJS Limited Series is Back again in a different guise. This time we are going back to Little India with a theme. “People”. Yes you heard it, we are going to scour the streets of little India shooting the types of people that can be seen there. Tourists, Touts, Tenants, Taxi Drivers, Foreign Hands, Foto-graphers,etc and we are just going to shoot with a Prime Lens with NO Flash or Tripods while the Camera is Set to Monochrome (Black & White) Only.

The Title said it all. This is SJS’s FILM Outing. We have last done this about 2 years ago and it is time to bring out your Film SLRs & TLRs, Toy Film Cameras, Holgas, Vintage Cams, etc. We are going to take a walk around the city hall covering the Istana, Church, War Memorial, Central Fire Station and shooting ONLY in FILM format.

PSS & SJS Combined Shoot for the Month of September 2012. It’s time to hunt for little insects and terrorize their world with out cameras & lenses & flashes! This Round, we are going to the SingaporeOrchidGarden – home to hundreds of Orchid Species and featuring a Cool House that is kept at 24 degrees, this shoot location offers lots of photo possibilities from flowers to insects just within the garden!
