The world’s leading digital media company launches Re-Picture photo contest and supports Asia Pacific’s emerging creative talent through continued sponsorship of Young Spikes.

19th September 2014, Singapore – Getty Images, the global leader in visual communication, is challenging attendees of Spikes Asia Festival of Creativity to drop stereotypes, reconsider the way they look at the world and embrace the power of imagery to shape the future.

As part of its mission to move the world through imagery, Getty Images is inspiring Spikes delegates to look beyond stereotypical images when describing people and communicating concepts, inviting creatives to ‘re-picture’ visual representations of key concepts like success, beauty, age and family.

“Social media in Asia is growing fast and as more consumers engage with brands online we’re seeing a rising demand for authenticity in imagery. At Getty Images we believe it’s time to move away from the cliché  content and embrace the world around us as it actually is – in all its variety and beauty,” said Corinne Woels, Head of Sales, Getty Images, South East Asia.

“Spikes Asia attracts the region’s top industry influencers and best emerging talent – creative leaders with the power to redefine our perception of the world. Getty Images is excited to join forces with this year’s delegates to re-picture stereotypes and inspire change.”

Delegates can explore image galleries representing re-pictured perspectives on selected themes and respond with their own ideas by using the #RePicture hashtag. In addition, Getty Images is launching a photo contest, inviting attendees to submit their interpretation of Re-Picture to win a US$200 Photos.com by Getty Images voucher.

For the third year, Getty Images is the official sponsor of the Young Spikes Competition. Taking place at the heart of the Festival, and judged by a panel of top media experts, the competition sees Asia’s best young creatives compete around the clock to create an award-winning campaign. Getty Images is the exclusive content provider for the competition, enabling participants to draw from its broad range of award-winning creative imagery to produce inspiring work of their own.
