Nikon Reveals Cutting-Edge Suite of High Performance FX-Format Cameras

The Nikon D4S

As Nikon’s new flagship model, the stunning Nikon D4S is the ultimate FX-format DSLR designed to deliver outstanding image and video quality with exceptional focusing accuracy.

The D4S incorporates the EXPEED 4 image-processing engine, together with a Nikon FX- format CMOS image sensor. Further supported by an effective pixel count of 16.2-million pixels and improved auto white balance, photographers can capture beautiful images for use straight out of the camera with stunning sharpness, enhanced depth, and natural skin tones. Its range of standard sensitivities from ISO 100 to ISO 25600 also produces images with sharper edges and smoother, richer colours.

The Nikon D4S is equipped with a new Group-area AF mode for powerful and versatile autofocusing. When Group-area AF is selected, the camera uses one focus point selected by the user and one each above, below, to the right, and to the left of the selected focus point, for a total of five focus points, for focusing. By capturing the subject within the five-point group, even if it is small and moving quickly and erratically as is often the case when photographing athletes and animals, the intended scene can be captured with greater certainty without focus shifting to the background.

The impressive camera also makes work smoother for photographers on the go, with exclusive Nikon technologies. A new RAW Size S option1 records images using 1/4 the number of pixels used for full-sized RAW images, making editing them on a computer faster and more convenient. The D4S is also equipped with an Ethernet connector2, enabling the smooth transfer of high-quality image data, regardless of the format (JPEG, NEF, TIFF), after capture.

The Nikon D810

The new Nikon D810 is a film maker’s dream, designed to empower photographers to unleash their full potential and produce extreme high-definition, high-quality images and video. The D810 offers the ability to record stunning Full HD video, while a 36.3-megapixel image sensor and wide ISO range of 64 to 12800, combine to offer unrivalled images, rich in tone and definition. The D810 delivers shots that put the camera in a class of its own, with outstanding versatility that enables it to excel in a wide range of environments and situations.

The D810 features support for recording of 1080/60p Full HD videos, facilitating a rich cinematic experience.

Optimized data processing designed to make use of the

36.3 megapixels, the highest effective pixel count in the Nikon range, provides rich, detailed video with smooth exposure alteration, even in shifts or changes in brightness. The D810 also supports recording in FX- and DX-format for two different angles of view, using just a single lens to enhance production efficiency.

The Nikon D750

Providing the FX experience in its smallest and lightest form3, the latest Nikon D750 offers superior maneuverability and agility in a powerful, compact package. The D750 enables the freedom of photographic expression with sought-after functions such as built-in Wi-Fi and a tilting monitor, both a first for Nikon FX-format cameras. The D750 also presents itself with 24.3 megapixels, 91K-pixel RGB sensor, and an outstanding high-speed continuous shooting rate of approximately 6.5 frames per second for both FX- and DX-formats. In addition, a fast and highly accurate 51-point autofocus (AF) system and a newly developed AF sensor which enhances low-light performance, makes it possible to shoot using AF in dark environments where it is impossible to focus with the naked eye.

The innovative D750 goes against the common assumption that the higher a DSLR’s specifications, the bulkier it becomes. Revolutionary technologies have never looked better, in a strong yet sleek, lightweight camera body with no compromise on image quality. Its powerful FX-format CMOS sensor and EXPEED 4 image-processing engine are enveloped into a monocoque structure framed by carbon fiber composite materials4 and magnesium alloy to provide durability while capturing beautiful, balanced shots.

The Nikon D610 is a portable FX-format camera designed for the everyday. Created for both enthusiasts and professionals in mind, the D610 is equipped with first-rate Nikon technology, including a 24.3-megapixel FX-format CMOS sensor and the EXPEED 3 image processing engine, along with an ISO range of 100 to 6400 (expandable from 50 to 25600), to deliver exceptional image quality. The D610 is ready to meet the demands of the most advanced photographers, boasting a unique 39- point autofocus (AF) system, and compatibility with an aperture value of up to f/8 for capturing incredibly sharp images in all situations5.

Film-makers will also be pleased with the D610’s ability to record Full HD and 720p videos, with full manual control of the exposure, allowing for switching between FX- and DX-format (1.5X) in Full HD. Users can also experiment with time-lapse photography by combining still photos into a movie with high-speed playback up to 36,000 times.
