09th November 2015, Singapore – Following my recent Review on the NEW Tamron SP 35mm F1.8 Di VC USD with a night out to the Esplanade, I promised the readers that I will be back with this Part 2 review with Day Photos. This time, I decided to test out the lens in one of the most colorful district in Singapore – Chinatown.
Singapore’s Chinatown is widely known for its colors, the people, the food and the hawkers. It’s a place for good street photography and I took the Tamron 35mm F1.8 along and see what kind of images I might get from this lens which I was clearly pleased with from my previous night run. Please be reminded that all photos in this article can be viewed at 100% so just click on it to view. All images are shot with the New Tamron SP 35mm F1.8 Di VC USD and only minor cropping, straightening and watermarks are added else everything else is pretty much what I gotten direct from the camera.
Image: The Tamron SP 35mm F1.8 Di VC USD is capable of incredible bokehs and beautiful contrasts – not too little, not too much, just perfect.
Image: The Tamron SP 35mm F1.8 Di VC USD handles lighted & dark area with a nice balance when paired with my Canon DSLR.
Image: The Tamron SP 35mm F1.8 Di VC USD produces creamy and very lustful looking bokehs – this will become a dream lens for many.

Image: Street Hawker preparing food. Note how the lens picked up the subject when I was trying to get the reflected image into the shot and making it look like a double exposure shot. I was really amazed by the new Tamron 35mm F1.8.
In summary, the New Tamron SP 35mm F1.8 Di VC USD is both a serious performer be it day shoot or night shoot. From the night review, I would have half guessed that this lens will perform really well in the day – and it did. Amazing sharpness at mostly wide-opened apertures, beautiful & creamy bokehs, fast & quiet focusing, and I know Tamron will be charging a reasonable price for this little monster. I shall start to hatch a plan to beg Tamron Singapore to give me this lens for Christmas 2015 – *grin.

Greetings,
Great pictures that showcase the lens. However how do you find its wide open performance?
Also what is your personal opinion on the bokeh of this lens? I feel that unless there are night lights in the distance which will turn into onion rings, The bokeh is quite decent. Those specular highlights seem to suffer from onion rings though.
Can you compare this lens to a Sigma art 35mm?
Kind rgds
Both are different in their own way.
