12th November 2015, Singapore – When I posted the 1st review on Samyang 35mm F1.4 AS UMC Part 2 about 2 months ago, there was much excitement about it as it was truly one of those “underdog” lenses which performs unbelievably decent. You may wish to read up a little more about this wonder lens here. Recently, I was out at Chinatown for PINK‘s outing and I brought out some of the Samyang lenses for the attendees to try.

Among the attendees, I decided to pass the Samyang 35mm & 85mm to Qianling & Joanna for them to “share share” &”have fun” with the lenses. Little that they knew that I am going to use their photos for a Part 2 Review for both lenses. This part 2 review will be a pictorial spread and some comments from both the reviewers. In this article, it will be a collection of images shot by the Samyang 35mm F1.4 AS UMC by both Qianling & Joanna. I will post up a separate article on the Samyang 85mm soon. If you wish to have information about this lens, do pop by my previous 35mm review.

“The Samyang 35mm F1.4 AS UMC is an amazing lens. Using it on my Sony, it allows me to use the focus-peaking function seamlessly and surprisingly it is really easy to use, The focus is smooth and the images are excellent. Although the lens is quite large, the image quality make up for it and this lens produces nice colors and tones. I must add that the images are sharp even when I shot it at wide apertures. No wonder the Editor AL calls this lens an Underdog lens.”
– Ang Qianling

“I wasn’t really expecting much as I do not really know Samyang lenses very well. And to add to the challenge, I prefers auto-focus lenses so when Editor AL passed me the Samyang 35mm, I was a bit stunned and I was thinking, what can I do or shoot with this lens. But after using it for this outing together with the 85mm, I find that Samyang lenses is not that difficult to use after all and I am happy to report that I actually like this lens.”
