A Visit to Eco Mama Photography Adventure
– Text by Lee Shi Qing & AL Lee
03rd October 2026 – Shutter Journey Singapore recently visited Takahan Tan’s Toy Photography Exhibition at City Square Mall, Singapore, and it was an enjoyable outing filled with creativity, imagination and plenty of fun!
Takahan welcomed our group and gave us a presentation on his exhibited works, sharing the inspirations and ideas behind his toy photography. It was a wonderful opportunity for our members to gain a better understanding of his creative process and how ordinary toy figures can be transformed into interesting photographic subjects through storytelling, composition and imagination.
One of the highlights was ECO Mama, the official mascot of City Square Mall, representing the mall’s mission to promote sustainability. Through its character and messaging, ECO Mama helps bring environmental awareness to visitors in a fun and engaging way.
Takahan’s exhibition was part of the Anime Earth Roadshow, held at the Level 1 Atrium of City Square Mall on 3 and 4 October 2026.
Beyond the toy photography exhibition, the venue was filled with numerous anime-themed stalls and cosplayers showcasing their favourite characters. The colourful displays, creative costumes and lively crowd gave the event an almost carnival-like atmosphere.
There was plenty to see and enjoy, making it an interesting experience not only for anime fans but also for photography enthusiasts looking for inspiration and new subjects to capture.
For our Shutter Journey members, the visit was also a chance to appreciate a different side of photography. Toy photography is a creative genre that combines miniature subjects with imagination and visual storytelling, reminding us that photography is not limited to landscapes, wildlife or street scenes. Sometimes, a little toy and a creative idea are all it takes to create an engaging image.
A big thank you to Takahan Tan for hosting Shutter Journey Singapore and taking the time to share his work, inspirations and experiences with us.
It was an enjoyable visit filled with creative ideas, colourful characters and a lively atmosphere. We look forward to more opportunities to explore different photography genres, learn from fellow creatives and discover new ways to tell stories through our cameras.
Thank you once again, Takahan, for sharing your creative world with Shutter Journey Singapore!
