During this Circuit Breaker due to the Covid-19, I attempted to make Dalgona Coffee and finally succeeded at the 3rd attempt. First 2 attempts were made with Milo Powder & Instant Coffee Powder and both failed terribly. Hope everyone is safe and well.💕

Every week for one day, reluctant as it were, my wife have to get out of the house to the supermarket for the following week’s food supply. However items like chilli, vegetables and the above edible fruit ( known widely as “Pop-pop Fruit) can be grown at home and serve a healthy meal for the family.

Caption: As early as 5th April 2020 when number of Covid19 was at  a controlled figure of 200 +, most Singaporeans will flock to Nature park for exercising ,fresh air and escape from boredom of home confinement. I did likewise and adjourned to Wallace Trail. Though I spotted swarms of joggings and cyclist instead of bees and butterflies I did manage a couple of macro shots. In particular, this six-legged fly which posed motionless for couple of minutes for me to compose a decent shot.

I’m happy that I’m blessed with two beautiful kids, and most of my free time I can spend with my kids. Though I cannot go out and shoot other’s kids photos I can capture photos of my own kids. Photography is not just a camera and a click, but to know and understand people and emotions, likewise I get the chance to study my kids more so I can picture them in right mood and right emotion.

In a way COVID has disturbed my daily life style, but it has helped me to spend more time with my kids.

Caption:
As the Covid-19 Circuit Breaker period dragged on, the little Shanghai Doll came alive with glittering eyes to bring cheer to the house. This ceramic doll that I had bought in Shanghai many years ago is about 10 cm high. The backdrop is a model of a room divider with beautiful wood carvings from Vietnam, about 30cm high – more than two decades old and finally came out from my storage box! Took me more than an hour, perhaps two, to get this shot. Subjects were placed on spaced out boxes, books and coasters to achieve a suitable height to catch the shifting natural sunlight that was falling through my window. Had to experiment with exposure and distancing. In the end, supplemented the rapidly changing faint sunlight (clouds!) with an ambient LED light to bring out a more natural tone instead of pale white skin. It is only during this circuit breaker that I am able to find “so much time” to do this.

Locked down and twisted into a tight space, unable to move, stuck together for what seemed like an eternity, with no leeway, no chance of being set free…

I was talking about the bread 🙂
Although lockdown seemed like a never-ending ordeal, it did make me realize how precious everything around me is, just being able to breathe freely amidst nature, walking about aimlessly in a shopping mall or even sitting on a bench to rest my tired legs.
Lockdown might be gone, but it can happen again in the future unless we change our ways. So while I enjoy untwisting this homemade twisted strawberry lockbread, I promise myself to be more grateful and kind to our earth, the one and only.

Caption: Since the corona virus in Singapore, the majority of infected cases are among foreign workers living in dormitories. They came to Singapore to work as labour workers in construction sites and marine industries, and as cleaners in food centres and HDB void desks. Such contributions to our society need to be recognised and respected by our fellow Singaporean. Hence, they deserve to have a better living condition in the dormitories.

Caption: During the Covid19 pandemic,  all citizens are reminded to be cautious by staying at home and adapt social distancing, so when sourcing for your essential items like food, quickly buy & return home. The bicycle plays a very important part for us to be home as quickly as possible but also ensure your safety.
