Caption: Living in an apartment, my main door overlooks some trees. It was just after a storm and these two birds, looking like a couple, perched on a branch and grooming each other. It reminds us to look after each other as we stay home together during this Covid-19 Circuit Breaker.

Caption: The prolonged Stay-Home measure made me realized the convenience of Home grown Food. Every week for one day, reluctant as it were, my wife have to get out of the house to the supermarket for the following week’s food supply. However items like chilli, vegetables and the above edible fruit ( known widely as “Pop-pop Fruit) can be grown at home and serve a healthy meal for the family.

Caption: Passing by this newly painted badminton court to the food court has been my daily routine. From day one to the day this photo was taken, it has gone through changes from fresh pristine paint to someone decided to make a tire slide mark. In the foreground. A mark of protest to the WFH order?

Caption: One of the positive impact of Covid19 Stayhome Stayhealthy measures must be to enjoy Home Cooked meals , 3 meals daily and over a prolonged period of almost two months. Hence, I have the rare opportunity to taste tasty cuisine like the above – “Man Dou” cooked with egg, minced pork, doufu, carrot, etc.

Caption: Never imagine that a day will come when I will see no Taxi queuing for passengers at our airport or no cars on the roads at our airport. This really goes to show how the aviation industry had been badly impact by COVID-19, as the Singapore Airport is one of the busy airport in the world. Photo taken on iphone on 2 May 2020, when I was on my way from T3 walking towards Jewel, trying to get to the NTUC@Jewel hoping for lesser crowd at the supermarket.

Caption: The limited sky view I could see from my window during the Stay-at-home order (Circuit Breaker 2020). How I wish the Covid-19 is like the stormy sky that will be over soon! Stay safe and healthy everyone, the world outside is waiting for us to explore!

Caption: By 22nd April 2020 as the Covid19 infected cases in Singapore spiraled upwards, Circuit breaker measures such as StayHome and Social Distancing were strongly enforced. Physical movement were confined to within the perimeter of Home premises. I grabbed an opportunity to practice Home Birding when I was disturbed by these uninvited guest to share the food remains with my dog. After a dozen shots, I finally had one decent moment in time shot of bird in flight.

Caption: 26th April 2020 – As the days of StayHome measures (Circuit Breaker) were extended for another month, I realized the need for more creative ideas to occupy the “Extra Time”. Revisiting archived photographs and adding effects using Photoshop is one of the many things that I decided to do. Combine (merge) two photographs, adjust Blend options and Opacity % . The result is a “Double Exposure” though far from perfect.

Caption: During the circuit breaker, (clearly bored) everyone is digging up things all around the house even in the attic out of boredom, some yield treasures and some are junk. I found an old box of marbles from yesteryears.

Caption: How often are you able to find time & dig up your old stuff at home? Thanks to the Covid-19 circuit breaker period, I have found a lot of stuff which I have kept over the years – the latest is a denim jacket by Textwood which I used during my riding days! Look at the condition, it is still wearable but one thing for sure, I cannot button it… LOL!

Caption: “Double roll.” – During the initial period of this pandemic, toilet rolls had snatched the headlines on our local news. People were hoarding toilet rolls and the situation had amused many of us. Therefore, it gave me some idea on my stay home project. I decided to photograph this ‘important’ commodity. I arranged the rolls in an interesting manner, so that the photograph does not look boring.

Caption: As the Covid-19 Circuit Breaker period dragged on, the little Shanghai Doll came alive with glittering eyes to bring cheer to the house. This ceramic doll that I had bought in Shanghai many years ago is about 10 cm high. The backdrop is a model of a room divider with beautiful wood carvings from Vietnam, about 30cm high – more than two decades old and finally came out from my storage box! Took me more than an hour, perhaps two, to get this shot. Subjects were placed on spaced out boxes, books and coasters to achieve a suitable height to catch the shifting natural sunlight that was falling through my window. Had to experiment with exposure and distancing. In the end, supplemented the rapidly changing faint sunlight (clouds!) with an ambient LED light to bring out a more natural tone instead of pale white skin. It is only during this circuit breaker that I am able to find “so much time” to do this.

Caption: Due to the Covid19 and the circuit breaker period, I was hunting around the whole house even into my attic (which I am still doing) I am so glad that I found some images of the most important woman in my life – my mother. I decided to do a collage of her framed photos of her doing what she likes in our Peranakan Culture especially the sarong and kebaya outfits. I would like to remember her as long as I could and thanking for her care over the years when she picked me up for adoption and she had left us for a better place 17 years ago.

Caption: Since the corona virus in Singapore, the majority of infected cases are among foreign workers living in dormitories. They came to Singapore to work as labour workers in construction sites and marine industries, and as cleaners in food centres and HDB void desks. Such contributions to our society need to be recognised and respected by our fellow Singaporean. Hence, they deserve to have a better living condition in the dormitories.
