The event started with AL, the Founding Member who gave a short talk on shooting Food photography and about volunteering with organizations (social enterprises) that supports the employment of ex-offenders. A low profile supporter himself, he advocates “2nd chances” for ex-offenders through many of his activities from his various associated groups.

The air time were also passed to Chef Benny SE Teo, the person who started the Eighteen Chefs franchise in Singapore. Chef Benny also shared a little about Eighteen Chefs and how he decided to start the franchise. He engaged the attendees freely to which the attendees responded positively. After the Opening, the attendees were shown AL’s works on the restaurant wall and on the digital screen at the entrance which exhibited AL’s photos when he was engaged to shoot by the franchisee to create a “fresh perspective” of the existing menu items.

Dinner commenced but strangely, no one was eating instead. Instead, cameras were heard clicking away and the attendees were trying out AL’s shooting tips and having fun with their dinner (and others’ dinner too!). METZ also provided the attendees with demo flash units to try and use. There were so much laughter and talking until the attendees were reminded to eat their dinner!

After the dinner, a special session was arranged to have an Eighteen Chefs staff to do a live demo on creating the restaurant’s popular Waffle with Ice Cream. From what we can see, everyone was enjoying and having a good time! If you had not tried the waffle from Eighteen Chef, we will suggest you check this out soon. It’s our favorite!
