Caption: “The Twin Pagodas of Chinese Garden” – This is one place that is very meaningful to me in Singapore especially during the mid-autumn festival as I go here to see those beautiful lanterns. Beside the mid-autumn festival, one of the thing I like here is to capture the beautiful sunset in the twin pagodas. This photo is one of the beautiful shot I had taken as the light is beautiful and the reflection is clear. I used a technique that as the same as long exposure but without the filter. I used the “smooth reflection app” in Sony where the camera will shot many shots and do the averaging, in effect it is doing the same as long exposure technique. This photo was taken 192 times and output 1 file.

Caption: This image was taken at the back stage during a Teochew Opera performance by the Er Woo Amateur Musical & Dramatic Association for its 103 anniversary. The skillful makeup artist was preparing the actor for her character. These actors are mainly part-timers who have the passion for many years, and some of them are grandparents now. I am glad to see some young faces in the troupe and hope that this wonderful art/cultural heritage will pass down and preserve.

A place where time stood still but life goes on.

Caption: In the middle of the modern city you find these small reminders of what once was, simple shophouses where people live, worked and became friends where they were all part of the community. Today many of the streets have gone, giving way to modern high rise apartments, shopping malls and office towers but there remains in small areas those special places where communities remain to gather together as one to share stories, to laugh and have fun. This small terrace of shophouses at the entrance to the hawker area for the community is a reminder of what once was.
