Exploring Woodleigh/Bidadari Park

10th September 2026, Singapore – 02 weeks ago, the group visited Woodleigh/Bidadari Park. The photography focus for this visit was Macro Photography & Bird Photography (Birding). This is fairly a new park as compared to other nature parks in Singapore. Many of you would know that this park used to be a huge cemetery and one of the oldest in Singapore.
But through the last few years – after the process of exhumation and growing trees and plants, the park was left to “grow & mature”. And with that, the park attracted lots of wild life and the park is now “semi-mature”, that had made the park very popular with visitors and nature lovers.
Park amenities are pretty standard with restrooms, water coolers, children playground, a mid-size pond, tracks, trails and boardwalk. But what the group was looking for are insects and birds. And there are a lot to discover.
There were indeed a lot of insects, we found quite a fair bit, some are common in other parks, while some are rare. We walked for 2 hours and only managed to complete 1/3 of the park. Then again, we are happy with all the insects that we found.
We picked the late afternoon instead of early morning for this visit. Weather is rather humid and hot these days and the park was surprisingly windy at many spots. In fact, this park is very comfortable even for a leisurely stroll.
Getting to this park is very convenient and it is located near to a MRT and a mall. Car park is too small with limited parking lots, and pretty hidden. Otherwise, this park is very friendly to visit.
