City Walk Returns – Remembering the Late Pang Teng Lin
– Text by Li Shi Qing

13th June 2026, Singapore – A special event by Shutter Journey Singapore – dedicated to the late Ms Pang Teng Lin. This event was designed to retrace the very same steps that Teng Lin had walked with our Founding Photographer & Chief Editor – AL Lee. It was an event focusing on street furnitures, murals, architectures and the streets of Singapore.
AL Lee first met Teng Lin on 13th May 2013 at a Canon EOS World event and AL was the Trainer. That event was organized in conjunction with AL’s conferration as one of the Canon EOS World Photographers of the Year 2013. It was a photowalk that spans close to 3km starting from Maxwell to Telok Ayer, from Ann Siang Hill to Chinatown before routing back to Maxwell.

In 2013, Teng Lin was still very much at an exploration stage in photography and the theme of the event was street photography which interest her – she was noted to be asking a lot of questions which surprised AL – he added.
“She was very curious and inquisitive, this is good learning attitude.” – AL Lee

Teng Lin later followed AL to join Shutter Journey & PSS where AL was also teaching. She also took many private lessons from AL & eventually winning many awards through Shutter Journey’s Competition & had her work displayed at many Exhibitions organized by SJS.

Many photographers came to support this event and her Brother, Mr. Pang Teng Shin came too.
There was a short speech by AL as well Teng Shin before the event starts.
Some extracts as below;
“Although Teng Lin is no longer with us, her spirits in photography lives on with all of us.”
– AL Lee
“My sister started her photography journey and AL was her first photography teacher”
“She never stops exploring and learning”
– Teng Shin

During the outing, AL was retracing back Teng Lin’s exact route back in 2013, many of the spots looked vastly different, but many are still there. All the images in this article are the very same spots that Teng Lin had walked with AL in 2013.

It had been a really hot afternoon but everyone kept walking. In the name of photography, in the route of a memory, in the unwavering learning spirits of Teng Lin.
You may view Teng Lin’s Albums here. There were at least 50+ albums that were shot at Shutter Journey’s events.
This event was organized by SJS in memory of Teng Lin and her passion in Photography.
“Rest in Peace, Lin” – from All of us at Shutter Journey Singapore.
